Covid 19 acted like an accelerant on the flames of social media and it’s causing a social collapse.

So I’m just an overeducated nurse working in a LTC facility for seniors. Essentially, social media, and the news media, have created an echo chamber where conspiracy theories and fear have spread so far and wide that it has essentially caused social collapse. You don’t see honest social media posts saying, “I’m a healthcare worker, and I’ve watched three people die today from Covid 19.”
I see the phrase “I won’t sacrifice my liberty for a tiny percentage chance of dying.” But what about the hundreds of people that have died in the last two weeks in nursing homes? Is your liberty more important than life?
I used to be an ambulance paramedic so I’ve had a lot of experience in death, but watching covid suffocate people to death, and feeling helpless when you know you did everything you could, is still incredibly painful. I’m off work for a few days and I’ll be back trying to fight the good fight.

I’ve heard so many people say how this is overblown, and I can’t help but think they’re trying to convince themselves that this is true, and that they’re right.
What a terrible time for our country.
