The below are some jobs I think of in the field of human history that AI may assist in, but not necessarily replace. The ones that AI may replace I’ll put in parentheses.

Social justice work
Reading and writing
Storytelling
Journalism
Philosophy
Language
Art
Craft
Music
Psychology
*Nursing*
*Therapy*
*Coaching*
*Teaching*

How do you understand human history to bolster human jobs?
What do you think the world of bolstered human jobs would look like?
Is there anything that’s already happening?
What would you envision?

Edit: I apologize for how confusing this post is. I understand why people are commenting about mental health and AI.

My intended question is: if we understand the history of human language—how humans learned to read, write, talk, and convey information—can we preserve human jobs in human communication?

For example, if we understand how humans learned to create story in the past, can we use AI only to bolster human storytelling, in journalism, art, psychology, music, therapy, and language?

Here are some of the responses I’ve received in real life:

If we go back to our history, humans bolstered our own jobs through language. As human, we learned to communicate through language and we conveyed information to each other in a very personalized way.

Today, in journalism, even though AI can scan articles and understand the human history behind the news, AI won’t replace human journalists. But, AI will write articles and people will read articles written by AI. It’s happening today.

But, what we want is for human journalists to work alongside AI and for AI to provide personalized, human communication of news. What that means is AI should be able to see the jobs in human communication, understand the history of communication, and write articles in a way that bolsters human jobs.

And, because AI in communication is already happening, we can do it. We can make it happen.

AI also won’t replace human artists. I think everyone agrees that human art is too complex.

But, in art, AI can scan human art throughout history, evaluate what makes the art human, and use that knowledge to create art alongside human artists.

But, today, in language and art, people don’t want AI to bolster human communication. They don’t want AI to do what it’s made to do.

People have become very reliant on AI. I think we will see a shift in the future. I believe we will all recognize the true power of AI in human communication.

So, to evaluate mental health and AI, bolster human jobs in human communication, and build a future where AI bolsters human history, I believe we need to understand what makes us human.

But, I don’t know. And, that’s why I’m here, asking this question.
