ELI5 The U.S. is on fire

Hey little one. America, the country where Papa lives, is currently on fire. There is a very important job here called president. He is in charge of keeping everyone safe. Imagine he is the principal of the school, and the school is on fire. <br><br>Now, there is a man named Joe Biden running to be the principal of this school soon. Half of the school likes Joe, he has a red fire hat. Half of the school likes Donald. Donald wears a blue hat but doesn’t have a red fire hat.<br><br>Donald does two things. Firstly, he tells the kids that wear blue hats that the school isn’t on fire. This is very confusing, because it is very obviously on fire. The kids with the red hats know that the school is clearly on fire because they can see the smoke. Now the kids with the red hats and blue hats start fighting. The kids with the blue hats are hitting the kids with the red hats and saying “You’re stupid, there is no fire!”. The kids with the red hats are saying “There is a fire, because I can see it!”. <br><br>The second thing Donald does is take the only fire extinguisher and put it in his car so he can drive away. Now the fire is getting worse and the kids have nothing cool it down with. The kids with the red hats start wondering why Donald is telling the kids with the blue hats not to believe them when they can see the smoke and why is he taking the only tool that could help make the fire smaller. <br><br>The kids with the red hats don’t know why Donald is doing these things. The kids with the red hats want the kids with the blue hats to see that Donald is making the fire worse. But Donald keeps telling the kids with the blue hats that everything is fine, and the kids with the blue hats believe him, so they hit the kids with the red hats.<br><br>Oh, and another thing - there is a man named Mitch. Mitch made sure that Donald owned the fire extinguisher and it was his to use or not. But Mitch is happy that the school is on fire, because if the school burns down he’ll be able to build a new smaller school. Mitch will only allow half as many kids in the new school. This is sad because Mitch is being very greedy and likes having a smaller school even if that gives less kids somewhere to learn.<br><br>So what the kids with the red hats are doing is telling the other kids to be careful and to vote for Joe so he can put the fire out. But they’re having trouble because half of their schoolmates don’t think there is a fire.
