My daughter had been dating her boyfriend for three years. A year ago they got engaged and we love him. He’s a really sweet guy. Six months ago I asked my daughter to tell me about her wedding plans and she was very evasive and insisted on keeping things private until closer to the date. I found that weird but decided to let her have her space. Two months ago my son got into an argument with her over her plans. My son insisted on knowing and my daughter didn’t want to tell him. Eventually she told us she was planning on having a beach wedding in Mexico. We were all shocked. Neither of my kids has ever mentioned wanting a destination wedding. In fact my daughter has always talked about wanting to get married in the church where she was baptised.

My son was really upset about it and accused her of getting married in Mexico so he wouldn’t have to pay for such a big and expensive wedding. My daughter burst into tears. She was really upset and eventually admitted she was lying about the plans because her finance wanted a big expensive wedding. My son offered to pay for the wedding and my daughter agreed but only if she got to plan everything and have all the things she wanted.

She lost a lot of weight, got her hair and makeup done. She eventually found the perfect dress. She found the perfect caterer, DJ, and flowers. She even found the right person to do the wedding photoshoot. Last minute her finance called off the wedding and said he was only using her for her body and he didn’t love her. He said she didn’t look good enough for him. My daughter was really upset and she spent a lot crying. Eventually we convinced her to give the wedding a go and invited all our friends and family.

When the day of the wedding came her finance didn’t show up. We waited for hours and he eventually texted her calling her ugly and saying he was never going to marry her. Everyone was really upset and my son suggested we go ahead with the wedding and I marry the two of them. My daughter was so upset and she agreed. The two of them got married and everyone was really happy. She was crying happy tears and later she told me that the best day of her life was her wedding day.

She’s been telling me how much she loves her husband and how much she loves being married to him. She even joked about how she’s the envy of her friends because she got to have the perfect wedding and the perfect husband. My son and daughter are really close and I know he made my daughter very happy.

AITA for thinking this is the most romantic thing ever?
