Why do women get so much more support than men?

I see it in the happiest healing, on the internet, and even in real life. I’ve seen countless instances of a girl having her mental health issues validated and the boys having their mental health dismissed. Why is it that women get so much more emotional support than men?<br><br>I know it’s not just me who’s experienced this. Everytime a female friend of mine cries or tells me about their problems, I’m there for her. I lend a shoulder to cry on and sometimes, I’ll even give them a hug. I’ll listen to them vent for hours on end. Sometimes, I’ll give them advice. I’ll do whatever it takes to help them feel better.<br><br>But whenever I have a problem, they won’t even offer me a shoulder to cry on. They won’t give me a hug. They’ll just tell me to ‘man up’ or ‘be strong’. They won’t let me vent. And when I want advice, they don’t even bother to help. I feel like I’m nothing more than an emotional tampon to them. Like, I’m there to listen to them vent but they won’t listen to me vent.<br><br>For example, when my dad died, my friends didn’t even give me a hug. They didn’t even let me vent. They just told me to ‘man up’ and ‘be strong’. But then, when my female friend’s cat scratched her, they gave her a hug and let her vent for hours on end. I know it’s not just me who’s experienced this. It seems like women get a ton of emotional support while men get jack shit.<br><br>And the worst part is, no one gives a shit. They don’t care that women get way more emotional support than men. They don’t care that men are more likely to commit suicide than women. Hell, they even make it worse by telling men to ‘man up.’ Like wtf? If anything, we need to create more space for men to be vulnerable. We need to encourage men to be more open with their emotions instead of suppressing them. Yeah, sure. Women are more likely to be depressed and have anxiety. But that doesn’t change the fact that men are more likely to commit suicide. It doesn’t change the fact that men get way less emotional support than women.
