I was mildly annoyed that I made myself wait up for a dealer who was already running late, and I was on my way back home in defeat when he suddenly called. I answered, and I never actually hung up. I thought maybe he was bluffing about still being in the area and would realize I wasn't actually there when I answered, but when he asked me to come outside he was actually in the car he claimed to be in, and he actually did have my drugs.

This was my first time with this dealer, and I made sure to text him my address slowly so he could see my location on the GPS. I looked out my window and watched him arrive, walk around my building, and then leave again. I waited around 20 minutes or so thinking he'd come back, but eventually I got frustrated not knowing how long I'd have to wait, and decided to give up for the night since I was tired anyway.

But then I got his call. I thought for sure he was just fucking with me at that point and trying to make it seem like he was still in the area. But he was. And he had exactly what I asked for. I can't even imagine how he knew I was walking away from the building when I was.

I guess I understand that it's not technically illegal to track someone's location, since we all agree to it when we download an app, but it still feels incredibly violating. This dealer has no business with my location outside of the one time I told him my address to sell me drugs. Especially since he was trying to create the illusion that he didn't even know where I was. He lied about it and was trying to keep me in the dark.

I felt violated and unsafe after this happened. I started wondering how often this happens without me realizing it, or how often I even give my location away without knowing it. It makes me want to delete every single app that tracks my location, but those are also the most convenient and useful apps for everyday life. Ugh.

Anyway, just be careful about giving your location away. It's not like I was in danger from this dealer specifically, but the thought of it happening without my consent is just strange and honestly a little frightening.
