Why do companies make you take assessments for IT roles?

The tests are more than likely flawed. They do not measure how technical you are - it measures how well you can memorize phrases, grammar, and human behaviors. Its just a perfect example of companies not putting their money where their mouth is. They preach D&I but then do this.
