How can anyone be a pessimist about the future?

I'm sure this topic has been discussed before in the sub, but I haven't found it. <br><br>Everyday when I read the news, I feel like I'm reading science fiction. I see things I believed to be 10-20 years away already here.<br><br>Lab grown organs? Here. Human brain computer interface? Here. Neural implants? Here. <br><br>These are enormous breakthroughs. Covid accelerated a lot of this stuff. I used to lament not living in the Star Trek universe, but I feel like I am now. And I am certain that's a minority view right now.
