What evidence is there of the effectiveness of Universal Basic Income (UBI) policies?

For those who don’t know, a Universal Basic Income is essentially a government stipend distributed to everyone in a society. It is a welfare system where all citizens of a country receive a regular, unconditional sum of money from the government to cover their basic needs. I’d love to know if anyone has any academic papers on the topic, or any recent studies to share.
