What is with all the posts attacking the choices of others?

I love this chamber, because I am childfree, but I don’t like the amount of posts that attack the choices of others. I think what I see most, are posts attacking parents for smoking pot. I have seen these posts dozens of times, and I never see anyone calling it out as being out of place. Why does it matter to you if a parent smokes pot? Just because someone is a parent doesn’t mean that they can’t smoke pot. It doesn’t even mean that their children will find out that they smoke pot. I’m sure that there are some parents that smoke pot in front of their kids, but that doesn’t mean we should just paint all parents as the same. I’m sure you would hate it if people assumed certain things about you because of one aspect of your life (for example because you are childfree, or because you smoke pot).

I also remember seeing a post of a couple who were trying to get pregnant but it wasn’t working, so they decided to adopt a child. Part of the adoption process was the wife had to get her tubes tied and the husband had to get a vasectomy. It was an odd requirement, but I’m sure there’s a reason behind it. Some of the comments I saw were just really shitty. A lot of the comments were saying “Wow, now they’re really stuck with a kid!” and “I hope you like the child, because now you can’t get rid of it!”.

I don’t like it when people attack other people’s choices. I’m a very live and let live kind of person. If someone chooses to smoke pot for recreational purposes, then I don’t care. If someone chooses to get their tubes tied/vasectomy for recreational purposes, then I don’t care (even if they have kids). If someone chooses to have children, then I don’t care. If someone chooses to adopt a child, then I don’t care.

I’m not sure where the toxicity of this chamber is coming from, but I think this is a good place to call it out.
