How Can Americans Be Proud of Their Country With 140 Million Poor?

A recent study from the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) found that in 2021 there were nearly 141 million poor or low-income people in the United States, or about 43% of the population. That’s defined as individuals who have one of three things: incomes below the federal poverty line, below a relatively frugal family budget, or consenting to be surveyed in a poll by Gallup, and saying they are struggling to afford food.
