My wife needs to understand the weight of having to many “ baby stuff “

So, we’re expecting our first little girl in 23 weeks and I’m from a small village in south Africa where I’ve learned to live with minimal things. I’ve always felt more comfortable to life in a simplified manner and less cluttered space makes me feel relaxed. My wife however seems to feel like her comfort is to have all these baby products and items that’ll be wasted or useless after 2 years or so.

I would like to know if there’s a good approach to make her understand that there’s no need for baby to have hundreds of toys and gadgets.

From my point of view both these baby products and items are pointless and adds too much clutter and pressure on both of us as first time parents to keep things organized to accommodate all these unnecessary items that she felt like to have.

I’m really struggling to talk to her about how these things are really necessary.

She says being a good mother to the baby is giving baby a lot of things to make her happy and show how much she cares. I understand that, but I genuinely believe that these things she’s buying aren’t necessary.

And most of the time when I try to talk to her she gets too emotional and cries - and I end up feeling like I’m a horrible husband.

How do I approach her or communicate with her about my concerns.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.
