The concept of the "productivity window"

The longer I've spent reading books on productivity, the more I have come to realize that our brains are only able to be in a very productive state for maybe 60 to 90 minutes a day. Many productivity books will tell you that you should wake up at 4am and be super productive, but for most of us, no matter how much sleep we get, it's impossible to be productive at 4am unless we're habitual night owls.

What really matters is getting into the right mindset, relaxing, and letting our minds wander. This is necessary for our brains to function well. A lot of the time, when I start my day, I find I'm more relaxed and better focused if I spend some time meditating, or going for a run, or going for a walk, or practicing some yoga. This helps me get into the right state of mind and be more productive.
