It doesn't make sense for Bernie Sanders to want a Medicare for All plan and a Green New Deal. Climate change could cause 1 billion deaths in the next 80 years, and his Medicare for All plan could cause 40 million excess deaths over the next 20 years

I'm a Democrat. I'm a Berniecrat. I love Bernie Sanders and AOC. However, I don't think they understand how bad climate change will be if we don't reduce emissions and transition to clean energy as soon as possible. Bernie Sanders' Medicare for All plan would cause an estimated 40 million excess deaths in the next 20 years, from people that couldn't get treatment or died waiting for treatment. However, if we don't reduce emissions and transition to clean energy, climate change could cause 1 billion deaths from drought, heat, starvation, etc in the next 80 years. We could get all the emissions reductions that we need by switching the US power grid to 100% nuclear power. We could move all power generation off natural gas, coal, and petroleum-based generation and reduce CO2 emissions by more than 25% in 10 years without raising taxes or modifying business or industry in any way other than power generation, and we could reduce emissions by more than 65% in 30 years or less, and we could do this for less than $5 trillion or less than 7% of the US GDP. This would be far less expensive than a Medicare for All plan, which could cause 40 million excess deaths. Therefore, it doesn't make sense for Bernie Sanders to want a Medicare for All plan and a Green New Deal, because the Medicare for All plan would cause 40 million unnecessary deaths, and because transitioning to 100% nuclear power would be faster and cheaper than everything in the Green New Deal.

We could also switch 100% of the light vehicle sector to electric vehicles and off 100% nuclear power, which would reduce carbon emissions by a full 1/3rd in the next 10 years, and we could do this for less than $2 trillion. I know that this is "a lot of money" but it would be far cheaper than a Medicare for All plan, which according to the best estimate I could find could cost $40 trillion in the next 10 years, or 8 times the $5 trillion it would cost to convert the entire US power grid to nuclear.
