I have been watching this chamber for a while now, and I haven’t seen anyone mention this technique. If you have seen it before I would love to know where!

This is the “3 lists” technique.
Step one is to write down absolutely everything you want to achieve in your lifetime. This should be an ongoing process throughout your life but I see it more of an “ideas list” so any time you have something you want to try you can add it to the list.

Step two is to go through that list and make a new list called your “goals list”. This list is more of a bucket list. Anything in the ideas list you actually want to achieve should be written down in this list.

Step three is to look at your goals list and find the top 3 goals that you want to achieve the most. This is your 3 list.

Step four is to look at your “3 list” and find the top goal on the list. This is your one and only goal. Nothing else matters.

You have to do everything in your power to achieve this goal. After you have achieved this goal, everything else on your “3 list” is irrelevant. I don’t mean you can’t achieve more goals. I mean think of all the time you wasted achieving the first 2 goals that are irrelevant now because you have already achieved your top goal.

For example let’s say your top 3 goals are:
1- $100,000 a year.
2- $80,000 a year.
3- $60,000 a year.

If you first work your ass off to get to $60,000 a year, then work your ass off to get to $80,000 a year, and then work your ass off to get to $100,000 a year, you wasted a ton of time making your lower goals a reality.
What I mean by wasting your time is once you get to $100,000 a year, having gone through the process of making $60,000 and $80,000 is completely useless now. You make more money now so why would you ever want to make less?

Applying this to anything else:
If your top 3 goals are to run 1 mile in 8 minutes, 1 mile in 7 minutes, and 1 mile in 6 minutes, you will have to train twice a long as everyone else who also wants to run a mile in 6 minutes. This is because first you have to train to run a mile in 8 minutes, then you have to train to run a mile in 7 minutes, and THEN you can train to run a mile in 6 minutes. And then, you will be the exact same as every other person who trains to run a mile in 6 minutes, but you will have put in a lot more work and time to get there.

So what this means is that the only thing that matters is your top goal. Your other goals don’t matter and they are useless.
This is interesting because what I’m saying is basically you have to do everything in your power to achieve your top goal and the rest of the goals on the list don’t matter.
It would be wrong to say “well my 2nd goal is only $20,000 a year less than my top goal! So I think I will aim for my 2nd goal!”
The reason for this is because if your 2nd goal is only $20,000 a year less than your top goal, when you achieve your top goal, you will make $20,000 a year MORE than you do if you only work towards your 2nd goal.

This is also true for the running example. If you only train to run a mile in 7 minutes, you would still run a mile in 7 minutes if you trained to run a mile in 6 minutes. But if you only train to run a mile in 7 minutes, you will NEVER be able to run a mile in 6 minutes.

What I’m saying is you have to do everything in your power to achieve your top goal. It’s the only thing that matters.

This is also true for literally anything else you put in the 3 list.

-Any time spent training for a 7min mile is irrelevant when you can train for a 6min mile.
-Any time spent working towards $80,000 a year is irrelevant when you can work towards $100,000 a year.
-Any time spent working towards 3,000 followers is irrelevant when you can work towards 5,000 followers.
-Any time spent working towards squatting 500 pounds is irrelevant when you can work towards squatting 700 pounds.

What I’m saying is your top goal is the only thing that matters and everything else is irrelevant. And I’m saying this in a literal sense. Any time or energy spent on anything else is irrelevant.

The only thing that matters is your top goal. Don’t waste your time working towards your “lower” goals. Spend 100% of your time and energy on your top goal.
