Unpopular opinion: frugal living doesn’t mean “do it yourself” or “make your own [insert]”

There are so many posts on this sub of people saying “oh make your own peanut butter! Only costs $0.99/lb” and that’s cool and all, but I don’t want to make my own peanut butter. I don’t want to make my own bread or soap or anything else. I want to be able to live comfortably while saving as much as possible so I can retire early.

I love seeing posts like “I saved $x by doing this one simple thing!” but more often than not I see a lot of “make everything yourself to save money and live a better life”. In my opinion that’s just fucking ridiculous. I want to be frugal, I want to save money, I want to retire early. But I don’t want to give up basic conveniences.

Edit: thanks for the awards everyone! I really appreciate it :)
