What is the relation between language, consciousness and existence?

Hey philosophers. I've been fascinated in the relation between these three things. I've come up with some ideas, but I'd like to hear others' take on it as well.<br><br>This thread is a result of many texts, a lot of self-reflection and a bunch of other things. Let's see if anyone would like to chime in.<br><br>I believe that every person with a sense of self, with consciousness, sees the world through their own perspective. This is the origin of existence, which leads to consciousness, which leads to language, which leads to existence. From here, it branches out into communities creating their own cultures. Different nations, different languages, different ways of viewing the world. The map is not the territory, but language is the map, and the world, our reality, is the territory. The relations between words are the relations between things in reality. I'm not sure what the meaning of words are, though. I think it's probably a complex interplay of social, cultural and natural things.<br><br>I think language has a very big role in shaping the way we see the world. I don't just mean words, but symbols and gestures. Human language, as far as I know, is a complex system of sounds. I don't know if any other animals do that. I think bees do, but I'm not sure. <br><br>My friend recently told me that there is a tribe in South America that has no word for left or right. But they do have a word for forward and backward. I'm not sure how true this is, but if it is, then it shows how powerful language is in shaping our existence.<br><br>I think that's where philosophy comes into play. It's the constant questioning of our existence. How we view existence and reality through language. I think it's impossible to fully escape the confines of language. But philosophy, as well as science and art and a host of other things, are important tools in our pursuit of truth, and shaping our existence.
