AITA for calling my husband and his family “racist” after I gave my daughter a “tattoo” to attend a school event?

My husband and his family are Trump supporters. While they’ve never been openly racist, I’m certain they are prejudice. I’ve been trying to break their prejudice by getting them to see POC in a more positive light. We were talking one day about how prejudice they were to POC, and I told my husband that “prejudice is like a dinner party, sometimes we have to *’wear a mask’ to get invited.*” He rolled his eyes.

My daughter has to sometimes attend a black church with me on Sundays. The churchgoers have always been nice and they know I’m white. They’ve never made fun of my “strange” accent. My husband and his family would never attend the church as they find it “weird.”

Last week my daughter had to give a speech at the church for Black History Month. I spent all afternoon getting her hair done and making sure she looked nice. I also painted a temporary tattoo on her face to show her “appreciation for the black community.” When we got to the church, the churchgoers said she looked very nice and appreciated the “effort” I put into the temporary tattoo.

The following day, my husband and his family were enraged that I had given her the tattoo. They said it was “blackface” and I was being racist. I argued it wasn’t blackface as the churchgoers told me she looked nice. I also said I painted a temporary tattoo on her face to show my appreciation for the black community. They said I was being immature and pathetic. They’re still mad at me and calling me racist.

AITA?
