I had to drive to Alaska for work. I flew out to Seattle an hour from the border, rented a van for $300 and bought a tent for $30. The tent has free shipping but I had to pay tax so the shipping can't be that much. I got a sleeping bag for $12 and a camp stove for $11. Some food at Costco and I was on my way. I had to drive all night so I read the two hippie guides for tent camping. The first guide recommended Walmart. So I pulled into a Walmart, slept for two hours, and then flew to Anchorage. The clients paid for the rental car for the rest of the trip. It was a minivan so I could put my back pack in the back and sleep there.

I have a few months left on this contract. I wonder what poses for more of an existential threat for the contract, me being homeless in a van or having Covid.

Edit: The van rental was an economy van, it had back seats. The airplane ticket was $500. I didn't have a choice in the flight. It was the only flight available. I had to buy it on a day's notice.
