Flying really is too cheap these days

I’m just going through the booking process of a flight and I am honestly starting to question the sanity of people who fly economy. I am going to fly from Argentina to Norway for 2.5 months and I don’t want to worry about bringing a baby on the plane. I did some calculations and it turns out that booking a ticket in business class is actually cheaper than paying for an extra ticket and luggage. A baby ticket comes out to 10\% of an adult ticket (let’s say 800usd) and you also have to pay around 30\% of an adult ticket for the baby luggage to be checked in. Where I live, you can get a business class ticket to europe for around 2500usd. Price in the US are quite a bit different since I see that people pay around 4000usd for the same route. But still.

Anyway, this is what it boiled down to: if I were to pay for a separate ticket and extra luggage, I would be paying around 2000usd. When booking a Business ticket, I don’t have to pay for the baby luggage and my ticket includes an extra checked in luggage, so if I subtract the price of luggage from the Business ticket, prices are similar. I also wont have to pay for food and drinks on the plane since that is included in the Business ticket as well. But most importantly, I will get to relax while flying and I will have a 23kg luggage to bring all the baby stuff I want to bring to europe to visit my family. I will probably sell the Business ticket miles worth around 250usd so in the end, I will have gotten a Business ticket for less money than an economy ticket for me and the baby! frugal win!
