Has there ever been a case where an empire forced a country to adopt their language (other than English of course)?

The only examples I found were:

France in Haiti (French was adopted by the slaves who had not spoken it before due to having been forcibly taken from west Africa)

Portugal in Brazil (Portuguese was adopted by the slaves who had not spoken it before due to having been forcibly taken from west Africa)

So really, I’m only looking for cases where an empire forced an already existing country to adopt their language.

edit: let me rephrase that I’m looking for cases where the rulers of country A actually forced all the citizens of country B to adopt their language.

For example, it’s easy to see how the Portuguese could force their language on slaves in Brazil who had no common language. It’s much harder to see how they could force Portuguese on people living in Portugal’s colonies.

For example, if Portugal had colonized Poland (just for example) it’s not clear to me how Portugal could actually force their language on Poland.
