So my daughter and her boyfriend are on vacation in Hawaii for the next week and a half. They drove there in her car and she’s planning to drive back as well.

She has a 2022 Toyota Avalon and her bf is in a 2020 Honda Civic. They live in Arizona and the trip is around 4.5k miles round trip.

Her boyfriend has had many issues with his car throughout the trip. He had a flat tire, cracked rim, and a few other smaller issues that have added up to around $1.5k for him.

Well, yesterday they’re driving down the street and my daughters car hits a pothole. It blew out one of her tires and cracked one of her rims. She goes to the shop today and they tell her that the damage is around $700.

I told her to put it on her credit card and that when she gets home we will figure it out.

Well, my son in law gets wind that my daughter had to pay for her car and he is LIVID. He tells me that I’m an AH for not covering her car repair costs, just like i covered his.

I told him that I didn’t cover anything for him because he chose to drive his car that he knew was barely holding together for a 4.5k mile trip. Also, he wanted to drive instead of fly so it’s not my fault that his POS car broke down on the trip there.

I reminded him that when my daughter’s car was in the shop, it was only 2 days and she was able to continue her trip as planned with no issues. Where as he has been delayed multiple times due to his car issues.

He tells me that I’m playing my children against each other and that I need to treat them equally.

AITA??
