Can you tell us why a summary of your story is interesting?

I'd like to suggest an exercise to try. Write a brief summary of your story, a paragraph or two at most. If you like, you can include the setting, the main character, the main plot thread, and any other relevant details that interest you.<br><br>Then, try to explain why this story is interesting. The world of your story is the real world. Here in the real world, the most interesting things are usually very boring, unless you have some emotional connection to them. The best way to make something interesting is to make it suspenseful. But if you don't have any emotional connection to a thing, what's the worst that could happen and why should you care? The other way to make something interesting is to make it mysterious. But suspenseful things are usually more interesting than mysterious things.<br><br>So your story has some characters and a setting and maybe some plot. Now you have to figure out what suspenseful questions your story raises. Here's an example. "A college student7218278 lives in a dorm room. He has a part time job at the cafeteria. His co-workers are friendly and they all help him with his classes. One day, he gets a job offer at a different restaurant across town. The job is more than double his current pay, but it has much worse benefits and it's also much more difficult. Should he accept the job or stay at the cafeteria?"7218278<br><br>In my example, there isn't a huge mystery. It's a personal suspense story, which means that the suspense isn't an external threat to the main character. Instead, it's an internal threat. The main character has to make a difficult decision, and the danger is that he might make a mistake. It's up to the main character to decide what's best for him, and he has to follow his own heart. Because these stories have internal suspense rather than external suspense, some people might call them "boring". But really, they're just a different kind of story.
