I got in a car accident and now the woman is claiming she has whiplash and wants me to pay for her injuries.

I was driving down a main road when I saw a woman pull out of an apartment complex. She didn't slow down much and I could tell she was going to pull out onto the main road. I was going 45 at the time and she was about to pull out right in front of me, so I swerved into the other lane and slowed down quickly. It still wasn't enough, and she pulled out right in front of me almost, and I even moved to the shoulder to avoid her and she just barely missed getting T-boned. She was a few feet in front of me but I still brushed up against the rear of her car. The damage to my car wasn't bad at all, maybe a grand or two, but I don't know what her damage is like. After the accident I got out of my car and she was still sitting there, looking shaken. I didn't want to talk to her because I was angry that she tried to kill me and I just wanted to wait for the police to show up.<br><br>After maybe ten minutes or so, she finally got out of her car and asked me if I was ok. I told her I was fine, and she said she was a little bit scared and that she thinks she might have whiplash. I told her that I'm sorry but she should have slowed down and used her blinker. She didn't say anything and we both went back to our cars. Sherriff showed up and took each of our statements. He told me that all the dashcam footage he saw showed her pulling out in front of me, and that the accident wasn't my fault. He said she should have waited for me to pass, or at least slowed down. Then we both went to the hospital to get checked out, and now she is suing me for $5,000? She was the one that caused the accident but now I have to pay for her injuries? I don't understand.
