Donald Trump once lobbied for Ireland to build a sea wall to protect his courses from the increasing threat of coastal erosion, it has been revealed. <br><br>According to documents seen by the Irish Times, the billionaire businessman approached the Irish government about the possibility of erecting a barrier along the west coast. <br><br>The proposal was made several years ago after mounting evidence that rising sea levels and extreme weather were posing a threat to his golf resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare. <br><br>The President-elect wanted a wall across the front of the course, in an effort to protect it from the increasing threat of coastal erosion. <br><br>However his request was refused. <br><br>Trump was told that any moves to construct a barrier in the area would be contrary to Ireland's obligations under EU law to protect natural heritage sites and wildlife habitats.
