I work security at Disney World... well, I mean I did.

I work in security at Disney World, the happiest place on Earth. Most nights it's pretty normal, just your average drunken Daddy rage or the occasional complaint about somebody being too loud or something. But there are other nights... nights when I get called down to an area that really isn't an area at all. There's no one around, just a wall or some bushes or something. Nothing. There doesn't appear to be any problem, just some nonsensical words strung together about "Mr. Johnson" and "preparing to exit the facility".

I've worked at Disney for years, so I know when I'm listening to a code. I ask the voice on the other end of the line what the code is and there's a pause, like the person's taken aback. I can hear some rustling of papers in the background and then the voice says it's a "code blue-6". I tell them that that isn't a real code and the voice says it is, to just trust her. I play along and ask what the procedure is and she says "the standard procedure". I'm taken aback again. There is no standard procedure for a code blue-6. I get off the phone with her and call my super. He's never heard of a code blue-6 either.

I'm on my way to go look into it when I get another call telling me not to bother. A co-worker has already been dispatched and is taking care of it. I argue with the voice a little more but I really don't know what she's talking about. I thought it would be easiest to just go look for myself. I've never been one to take orders too well. I'm a rebel like that.

It's about a 10 minute drive to get where I'm going so I have some time to think. I keep going over the conversation in my head. It just seemed so irregular. I get to where I'm going and don't see anybody. There's just a lot of bushes. I call the voice again, asking where the co-worker who's supposed to be taking care of everything is. I hear more rustling of papers followed by a long pause before she tells me she made a mistake, that I should have gone ahead and come. I tell her that I am there, that there's no one around. I ask her specifically where I should be looking and she tells me to look behind "the blue door". There is no blue door. I argue with her more, but she just keeps insisting that there's a blue door and that I need to look behind it.

I'm so fed up with her that I tell her I can't see the blue door because I'm blind. There's a long pause and then she says "Mr. Johnson, you are not a blind man". I want to argue more but something about her tone of voice keeps me from it. It wasn't the condescending, snarky tone of voice that I would expect. We've had problems with mentally ill people on the grounds before and I work with some mentally handicapped people and I know how to handle myself around people who are handicapped, physically or mentally. But this lady wasn't handicapped, she sounded... concerned. I hear a lot of rustling of papers again and then she screams "I'm sorry Mr. Johnson! I don't know what to tell you because I don't know where you are! Just get back inside the facility as quickly as possible!"

I'm a little caught off guard by her outburst. I more or less got sent to where I am for being stubborn, but I think this may be more than I bargained for. I tell her that I'm going to go look for the other security worker and she starts to plead with me not to. She tells me to please not do that because they've lost contact with him. I try to cut her off but she isn't letting me get a word in edgexwise. To top things off, it's starting to pour. I look around and there just isn't anywhere to seek shelter. I'm standing in a large clearing surrounded by bushes. The only thing in the clearing is me and a concrete pad with plugs on either end. I look up and see a large part of the sky blocked out by something. I couldn't see it from where I was standing because it's masked by the same camouflage they use for the rides, but now I can see a large structure looming over me. I keep telling the voice in the phone that I have to go and she keeps pleading with me not to go.

I hang up the phone and head towards the structure. I have to walk back towards my car and around the corner to get to the structure. I scan the ground to make sure I don't miss a blue door somehow. There's just some piping leading to the structure here. I get around the corner and still don't see any blue door. There are, however, blue lights. There are blue lights without glass around them, just the bulbs. I decide this must be what she meant by the blue door and I walk up to it. There's no door, just blue lights. I still don't see my co-worker. There's just a big metal door with the blue lights. There's some piping or something on either side of the door and large steel valves on either side of it as well. I try to open the door but it doesn't budge. I have to find another way around.

I head to the side of the building and I don't see any doors or windows. I decide to try to get to the other side of the building before giving up. I get all the way around to the other side and don't see any doors or windows. I have to walk all the way back around to my car to go back inside the hotel. I tell myself that I'll be able to get more information from the voice once I'm back inside. I get to my car and notice that the piping from the concrete pad outside the blue lights stops at a storm drain. The storm drain is a little odd looking. It's a concrete box that opens up on either side to the ground but there's a large square steel box in the middle of it that falls down into the ground. Inside the box is a blue grated floor. I can see light coming up from it. It looks like a shaft or elevator or something. I grow ballsy and decide to look inside.

I'm too big to fit inside but my flashlight is right for the job. I shine my light inside the box and see a long tunnel falling about about 10 feet. Then more blue grated flooring. It looks like some sort of lift or something. I still can't find any blue door though. I turn around and head towards the hotel again but hear a noise behind me. It sounds like rushing water. I turn around and the steel box opens with a hissing sound. I look down into the box and blue grated elevator flooring comes up to just below where I'm standing. I look down and there's a blue door.

It was a elevator! The blue door was in an elevator! I thought about getting in the elevator but as I thought about it, I got a bad feeling. There was something not right. I decided against getting in the elevator and walked back towards the hotel. I opened the door and was met with an empty hallway. I walked to the elevator and called it. After about 2 minutes it showed up. I walked inside but something still felt odd. There was just something about the elevator that seemed off.

As I rode the elevator up the feeling only intensified. It felt like something had moved in the elevator or something. It really didn't feel right. The elevator stopped and I walked out into the lobby. Behind the front desk stood my boss. To his right stood my co-workers. To his left stood two men in black suits. I knew I recognized the black suits from somewhere, but I couldn't place them. My boss told me that I wasn't to talk about what had just happened. There was some sort of investigation that was going on and I needed to stay out of it. I tried to ask questions but he cut me off. "This isn't something you should know about" he said. I still tried to talk to him but one of the black suits shut me up. "You didn't see anything" he said. I tried to argue with him but they ushered me out of the hotel and into my car. One of the black suits handed me a folder containing a severance check. I was fired.

As I drove off the black suits walked back towards the hotel. I thought about the black suits as I drove away. Where had I seen them before? Suddenly it clicked. I had seen the black suits in the elevator. They weren't there when I got in but suddenly they were there as I rode it up. I saw them in the elevator. Why hadn't I noticed them until we had stopped and I stepped out? I didn't have answers to any of these questions but I could only hope I never found myself in an elevator with them again.

Preston
