Protected from an assault in Mexico by a group of cartel members.

Pretty self-explanatory. My girlfriend and I were traveling in Mexico on our ATV's. It was night and we were in a town that was unfamiliar to us. Neither of us spoke Spanish but we had a translator app on our phones. We were at a standstill with our headlights in a narrow alley. The light was shining on a group of men apparently cooking drugs. I thought we were fucked but one of the men walked up to me. He was quiet and belligerent. He asked us if we were selling drugs? We said that we weren't. He made us show him all our stuff and it was time to fight or not. I trusted him for some reason. We showed him all our stuff and he wanted to know why we were in their town. We let him use our translator app. After a few mins of talking he went and made some calls. We were blindsided and exhausted. He got back on my bike and told us to follow him. We ended up in a neighborhood that looked pretty upscale for Mexico. We ended up in a house that was very nice. He said that he would stay the night and that if anyone came to the door that we didn't let them in. We didn't. The next morning we redid everything and followed him to a gas station and redid everything. After he filled us up he gave me a number to call him if we needed anything. It probably saved us from bad situation.
