I think it would be cool to have an app that teaches children with ADHD to perform and recognise the sequence of steps in a daily activity like putting away laundry, washing your hands or getting ready for bed. Many children with ADHD have difficulty performing routine daily activities due to problems with working memory and planning. This is my attempt at solving that issue through an app.

Each activity is broken down into a series of steps that are listed in order. The user completes each step in the activity and then selects the next step in the sequence (chronological order) from a multiple choice menu presented by the app. The user is encouraged by rewards to complete each step correctly, so that by the end they can perform each step self-sufficiently and in sequence. This makes it easier for them to perform the activity on their own and develop a habitual routine.

So in effect, the app guides the user through each step of the activity through a sequential menu system, until they have developed a habit of self-sufficiency. A lot like how Duolingo teaches you a language through repetition and recognise part of a sentence, I want to teach them to recognise the next step in a routine activity. I asked my sister (Occupational Therapist) and she told me that even though she works with children that have varying disabilities, they can generally use a tablet and the app will be useful for them to develop routine activities.
