Hi. I had an odd experience when I was traveling alone in the late 90's.

Airport Agent

I was in my early 20's and was flying back from Europe to the states. I had just left a long night at a club and was feeling pretty hairy and hung over from the week in the city.

I got to the airport and walked up to the international ticket booth to show them my ticket. She looked it over and noticed I had requested a window seat. She took my ticket and waved me to the side. I thought I was in trouble. A few minutes later 2 men came up and started talking to me. Asking me questions. Where are you going, why are you traveling alone, whats your occupation. I was so hung over and tired from lack of sleep. I thought these dudes were taxi drivers or something and just wanted to take my money for a ride.

Finally, one of them revealed they worked for a modeling agency. I was like "ok weirdo". But they seemed nice enough and told me I could get a free upgrade and we could talk more about the opportunity. At the time, I was modeling on and off in the US and was semi into it. The other man was apparently the agent and was traveling back to the states from a show in Milan.

There were a few more of us, a couple of other girls. We all ended up chatting at the gate and getting our tickets switched to first class. They took us to the first class lounge and we got some snacks and coffee. It was nice. I hadn't been in first class before.

When we boarded they had us all sit in our seats and wait for everyone to board. They told us to look for a red tie and a blue blazer. Once everyone had boarded they gave us signal and we swapped seats with a few men in first class.

I don't know what they did for a living. One of them was higher up in some sort of finance company and the other was a lawyer. They were both very nice and chatty and told me a lot about themselves. We had a lot to talk about and it was nice to have someone to chat with for the 10 hour flight.

Then they brought us a 3 course meal.

We chatted and had a few glasses of wine and then I fell asleep. They woke me up to let me know we were landing and told me to grab my stuff. I thanked them for the upgrade and we said our good bye's and parted ways.

Later that night I was telling a friend about the flight and he said I was probably in the mile high club. I told him no and explained that I had met them at the gate. He thought it was weird they had chosen me and that I didn't recognize them as agents. He said they must work for some government agency and that I'm probably on their radar now.

I thought he was being paranoid and weird. I never thought about it again until recently.

Mile High Club?

About 20 years later I was chatting with a friend at a coffee shop. I hadn't talked to this friend in a while and we were catching up. We somehow got on the topic of weird travel experiences.

I told him the story about the flight and he just laughed. He said he had a similar experience. He had also been approached by an agent at the gate and upgraded to first class. He also swapped seats with someone and met some people in first class. They were also very chatty and nice but they didn't have much in common.

They were also brought a 3 course meal.

About 5 or 6 hours into the flight they went to the bathroom. When they came out they saw one of their seat mates was gone and the window seat was now occupied by a man in a blue blazer and red tie.

He said a few hours later they went to the bathroom again. When they came out, the other person they had met was gone and replaced by a man in a similar outfit.

He said he felt weird and anxious and didn't know what to do. He went to the bathroom again and checked the window seats. Each time he came back one of the people in his row were gone and replaced.

When we finish our coffee, we walk outside. This was around 7 or 8 pm. He asks me to look across the street. There is a man in a blue blazer, leaning against a tree looking at us. He points up and down the street. There are at least 3 men and 1 woman leaning against things looking over at us.

He says he has been followed his whole life. Strangers just show up and watch him. Sometimes he will get on a random bus or go into a random bar and they follow him.

I am shocked and tell him to report it to the authorities. He already has and they say there is nothing they can do.

This was a few years ago and I haven't talked to him in a while.

I have been thinking about this a lot. I have been followed and had weird experiences. But not to the same extent. About 6 months ago I was housesitting for a friend. She lives in a pretty suburban neighborhood. I had just gotten off work at around 7 and had gotten something to eat at a restaurant. I pulled into the driveway around 7:30. I noticed there were a few cars pulled over on the street. They weren't parked and there were no lights on. I'm thinking they're probably the neighbors and just waiting for someone. I go into the house and look through the window.

Its around 8 and its dark and I can see the street. I look over and the cars are still there. I'm thinking its creepy so I text my friends husband. He says he will come check it out.

Its around 9 when he shows up. He drives his truck up and shines the lights onto the street. The cars speed away.

Nothing else happened after that. I just thought it was weird and moved on.

What do you think they were doing?
