My husband and I went all out on a dinner at a two-star restaurant in Paris. It was a night to remember, and the price of a good used car.

If you want a table at a top restaurant in Paris, you have to book the reservation months in advance. We were in Paris just for two nights, so I had to act quickly after booking our flights and hotel.

I was able to get a reservation at a two-star restaurant that was a 15-minute walk from our hotel. I couldn't believe I had done it so quickly! We had to postpone our trip for a month because of issues with our passports, and I was worried they'd be closed our dates, but they weren't! We were going to be able to eat at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris!

My husband was a bit skeptical at first because he's not a big foodie, but he soon came around! He only stipulated that he didn't want to go full black-tie, but I could see from the pictures that most men wore blazers and nice pants, so I agreed.

The day of our reservation arrived, and we headed to the restaurant. The sign said "closed," and I panicked, thinking they were closed for the season, but the host let us in. He was very nice, and he took us to our table.

We were seated at a table by a window! It only had one chair, but we had a nice view of the street outside. I think the restaurant had only been open for about 15 minutes when we were seated, because the dining room was maybe only a quarter full. Our waiter came over and gave us menus, which were in French, of course. He explained that they offered a tasting menu, which came with seven courses. We decided to go with that.

The only downside of the tasting menu was that we had to pay full price for my husband's meal, because he's gluten-free. I was happy to pay for it because the food was fantastic, but we had to pay full price for the meal I didn't even order! As this was the only real downside of the entire night, I'm not complaining.

Our waiter came back to take our drink order. I ordered a glass of white wine, and my husband ordered a cocktail he'd never heard of. I don't remember the name, but he said it was delicious.

I'm honestly not sure when I was served my first course, but I was served a few small plates that I can only assume, in retrospect, were the first course. One was a plate of foie gras, which was honestly the only course I didn't finish. It was a little too rich for me. The second, which was some sort of sauce topped with caviar, which was absolutely delicious! The third was a small glass of cream topped with smoked paprika, which was also fantastic.

I was a little confused that I'd been served three "courses" all at once, and by this time, the dining room was more than half full, but I just rolled with it. Then our waiter came over and said that I would be receiving Course #2: sole served with a lemon-caper sauce. I was a little disappointed that all of my courses were seafood, but my husband had ordered the lamb, so I knew I wasn't getting that.

I asked my husband if the lamb was good, and he said it was. He did mention that he had been served three small plates before the lamb, which confused me. Why was he served all of his small plates first, and I was only served them in spurts, but I didn't worry too much about it.

When I finished my fish, our waiter came back and said he would be bringing Course #3: mussels served with a cream sauce. I was happy to hear that I was getting mussels, because I love them! The mussels were perfectly cooked and were served in a nice cream sauce with a ton of herbs. It was absolutely delicious.

After my mussels, I was served a cheese course, which was served with a few crackers and a little jar of honey. It was honestly a bit unexpected, but I was excited to try the cheese! It was creamy and absolutely delicious, and this was the only course I didn't finish. I was worried they'd bring me a lot of courses, and I'd overeat and get sick.

After the cheese course, the waiter came back over and said they would be bringing Course #5: a poached egg. I was a little confused, because I already knew they were bringing me a poached egg, but I rolled with it. When the egg came out, I was pleased to see that they'd topped it with caviar, which was delicious. I texted my sister from the table because she loves caviar, and she told me I had to order more. I asked my waiter if they had caviar available, and he apologised and said they didn't. He did, however, offer to substitute the caviar on top of my egg with caviar from the jar of caviar that came with Course #2. I happily agreed to that, and the waiter happily topped my egg with the caviar.

After my egg, I was served a small plate of lavender and honey cream, topped with a little ball of honey. It was absolutely delicious, and I devoured it all in one bite.

After the cream, our waiter came back over and said they would be bringing Course #6: a butter and cream cake with a strawberry sauce.

And then the cake came out. It was absolutely heavenly! The entire restaurant echoed with a chorus of "wows" as the plates were brought out. The cake was honestly the highlight of the meal. When it came out, I was already full from all the food they'd brought me, but I devoured the entire cake.

When I finished the cake, our waiter came back over and said they would be bringing Course #7: a few chocolates to end the meal. They were absolutely delicious! My husband was a bit confused, because the chocolate was made out of cream, and he's lactose intolerant, but he said it was fine to eat it.

After the chocolate, our waiter came back over to present the bill. I was expecting it to be a little more than $1,000, and I was correct. The total bill was $1,200, which worked out to about $600 apiece.

We walked out of the restaurant around 10:00, full and happy. And I still can't stop raving about the food!
