Daughter Almost Got Kidnapped From My Friends House. I Have Suspicions And Fears, Am I Being Paranoid?

What happened yesterday seems too unbelievable to be true, I am still in shock and haven't slept at all, but I have to believe that it DID almost happen because my daughter is still alive and safe, and we cannot let our guard down for a SECOND.

I have a friend who owns a 2 story house. Her roommates live in the basement. My friend and her boyfriend live in the main part of the house (first floor I guess you'd call it). My daughter and her boyfriend's little sister are best friends, so they spent the night often.

I dropped my daughter off at my friend's house around 11am. Usually, I drop my daughter off and immediately text her to see if she's safe inside. This time, I completely forgot about that step and it was on my mind so much, I couldn't focus on work. The thought of something going wrong at my friend's house and losing my daughter forever crossed my mind at least a hundred times. Around 2pm, I still hadn't texted her. I mean, I knew she was safe at her friend's house, right? It's not like she was walking alone at night. I decided I would text her when I got off work, but around 4pm my friend texted me asking if I was coming to pick my daughter up still, or if she was staying the night because she still hadn't seen my daughter and she hadn't heard from her since she left for work that morning.

This is where it gets a little complicated because I'm going to be relaying some second hand information here, but apparently my daughter showed up around 11am, my friend let her in, and my daughter texts my friend saying that she was going for a walk. Which seems weird because it was 11am when my friend let her in, and she had texted her at 11:04 saying she was going for a walk. My friend thought it was weird because my daughter has never done that before and they had planned on getting dinner at Olive Garden. My friend texted back asking what was up, and my daughter said she'd be back. Then she sent pictures of herself walking down the street, which seemed even weirder like...why would she send pictures of herself walking to my friend? My friend said those pictures were taken at 11:08 and she was walking away from the house. Then, my friend lost cell service completely and didn't get it back until around 3pm. My daughter wasn't at my friend's house. She didn't answer my friend's calls. The roommate in the basement didn't know anything, and we couldn't get in touch with my daughter at all.

My friend and her boyfriend went out looking for her in the neighborhood but she was nowhere to be found. They went to Olive Garden and a few other nearby places thinking that maybe she went there to eat on her own, but she wasn't there. At this point, we were both terrified and considering that the WORST might have happened. If anything like that were to happen to my daughter, there's no way I could ever recover.

We had the police out looking for her and I had given them her description and my friend and I had gone out looking for her. My friend pulled up to the house around 7 and my daughter was standing outside her front door. She said she went for a walk and lost her phone for a while. Is that even believable?? Why would she send pictures of herself walking to her friend if she had actually lost her phone?? She was gone for 6 hours and lost her phone, but somehow still had the pictures from her walk.

Then, I got a call from the police station saying they had found my daughter around 7:30 and that she was safe. I was relieved, but I didn't understand why they had my daughter. Then I get to the police station to pick her up, and she tells me that she was walking and that two guys approached her. One had a small knife, and the other had a small bat or baseball thing, and they were trying to get her to come with them. She said she freaked out and started screaming, and a car pulled over. The two guys ran away and the guy in the car asked if she was okay, and she said that she didn't know where she was or how to get back to her friend's house. The guy in the car called the police and they picked her up.

When I got home, I looked up my friend's house and saw that there was a park about 2 blocks away from her house. Then I pulled up the street my daughter sent my friend a picture of, and it was about 10km away from that park.

So now I'm wondering...if she really did get kidnapped and I just got really fucking lucky and whoever had her let her go for some reason, or if whoever took her somehow took her phone and sent those pictures from my daughter's phone to my friend's phone to throw her off their trail. Like, was my daughter texts to her friend her way of reaching out for help? Was she forced to send those texts? I have so many questions and I don't know if I'll ever have the answers.

I just don't know if I can rest easy again. I don't know if I can ever let her go anywhere again. My heart is literally racing and I still can't believe this all happened so fast. My friend and I dropped our daughters off at my mom's house today so we could discuss yesterday's events without them present, and the entire time I was telling my friend what happened, I couldn't help but imagine my daughter being dragged away screaming and crying.

My friend and I are both still in shock, and my daughter and I are both still shaken up about it. I'm just ...wow. That's just...I don't even know what to say.
