I'm a Republican from Texas and I'm here to see what all the fuss is about

I'm an avid hunter and target shooter. I have a few pistols, a few rifles, and a few shotguns. I'm pro-second amendment. My dad works at a gun range and I get free range time when I go to visit so I shoot a lot.

Now I'm not here to debate gun control, that's not what this is about. It's about what I've noticed about people's attitudes towards gun control.

I just moved to Chicago for work. The people are very rude, the traffic is bad, and the food is good. I'm not making much here either. I make 30% less here than I did back in Houston despite the cost of living being much higher. I'm basically breaking even. I can barely afford to go to the shooting range here. The ranges around here seem more expensive (I don't really know because I was getting it for free back in Texas but I'm pretty sure it was cheaper if I wasn't getting it free) and gas is more expensive here. So I'm not shooting as much. Also nobody wants to buy guns. When I tell my coworkers that I like to go to the range they look at me weird. I've heard people in other states think we Texans are crazy for having such lax gun laws. I don't think they truly understand our point of view.

The point of this was to see if anyone in this sub has made a move from a state with stricter guns laws to one with laxer guns laws and what they noticed about the people around them.
