Does anyone else here dread parent teacher conferences? Or is it just me...

This is kind of an odd question, I know.

I've been a teacher for over 10 years and I love kids & parents equally. My parents are (99% of the time) very kind, considerate and thankful.

I have parent teacher conferences tomorrow and that means I have to stay at school until 7PM...if things run on time.

It's not that I hate them...it's just that I dread them. I don't dread them because of parents (like some of you poor people in here) or kids...but because it's so monotonous and exhausting. Its just so much repetition. I feel like I'm saying the same phrase 20 times an hour. I also feel that I'm rushing my words, because I have 15 minutes per family (which is fine) but the conferences aren't always on time. Parents are often 5 minutes late so that takes away from that 15 minutes. So I have to be concise, but not sound like a robot.

I'm also a special area teacher and not a class room teacher so when parents come to me it's usually because there is an issue with their kid. I feel like I'm just talking about issues...issues...issues.

I've been doing this for over 10 years and I can't seem to get over that dread feeling that I get right before conferences.
