Hey AI loving community!

Since we’re constantly thinking and reflecting on how all this technology is going to change everything, I thought it’d be fun to make some predictions on what could be the case 5 years from now. Let me know what you think!

1. **Engineering and software roles becoming more AI-assisted:** This could become especially important for startups. Many founders will no longer be able to afford to hire a huge team of engineers and programmers, so they’ll need to be more proficient with AI tools to get things done on a lean budget.

2. **AI will revolutionize construction and manufacturing:** Again, this is a big area where startups will play a huge role. It’s going to be a lot easier for them to come into the playing field and make a name for themselves, especially when we get to the point of having full-on construction robots.

3. **NFTs become the new social currency:** There’s already a lot of hype happening around NFTs, and I think this is going to grow even more. Who knows what NFTs will look like in 5 years, but I have a feeling they’re going to be really big.

4. **AI-powered telepathic headsets are going to be a thing:** This is technology that’s already being worked on, with devices like Neuralink and Kernel. I’m not sure how far neurotech will have advanced in 5 years, but I’m sure it’ll be a lot further along than it is now.

5. **Cryptocurrency is going to be a huge deal in developing countries:** This could be huge for people’s financial health, especially in countries where they don’t even have access to banks. I think it’s also going to be huge for international trade. I’m sure there are going to be a lot of bumps along the way, but I think we’ll get to a point where cryptocurrency is a lot more normalized and widely used.

6. **Indoor vertical farming is going to become a lot bigger:** Climate and sustainability are such huge topics right now, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. I think there’s going to be a lot more use of AI and computing power to make vertical farming even more efficient and produce more yields.

7. **Robots are going to be super common in retail:** It’s already a pretty common sight to see robots being used in grocery stores, pharmacies, and other retail environments. I think we’re going to see a lot more of that going forward. From robots serving customers to robots being used in backrooms, I think there’s going to be a lot more of that with all the labor shortages we’ve been seeing.

8. **More retail stores are going to close down:** Just because retail stores are going to have more robots working in them, doesn’t mean they’re going to thrive. I think we’re going to see a lot more retail stores closing down, including big box stores. This is the natural progression of retail becoming more digital.

9. **Voice assistants will become more mainstream:** I think we’re going to see voice assistants become more mainstream in homes, cars, and offices. Whether it’s AI assistants in things like smart glasses or other wearables, or even Alexa becoming more integrated into homes, I think we’re going to see a lot more of this kind of technology.

10. **We’ll have an AI assistant that will seamlessly integrate your entire life:** You’ll be able to use voice commands to talk to your house, car, office, and basically anything else. This is something we’ve been seeing in sci-fi movies for years, and I think it’s going to become a reality in the next 5 years.

11. **There will be a LOT of AI jobs available:** This goes hand in hand with the development of so much new technology. There’s going to be a huge need for people who specialize in AI, so I think we’re going to see a lot of these jobs opening up.

12. **More people will work remotely:** This is already the case, but I think we’re going to see even more remote work happening. That means there will be more virtual coffee shops, virtual coworking spaces, and virtual networking events.

13. **3D food printing is going to be big:** I recently learned about a device that exists right now that can print pizza. You heard that right, pizza! It’s made by a company called robotic kitchen. I’m not sure how widespread it will be in 5 years, but I think it’s something we’ll be seeing a lot more of.

14. **We’ll have virtual reality contact lenses:** This technology already exists, but I’m not sure how accessible it is. I think we’ll see more widespread accessibility and use of virtual reality contact lenses.

15. **We’ll have services that allow us to genetically engineer our babies:** There’s already a lot of controversy around this topic, and I’m sure that’s going to continue. But regardless of how we feel about it, I think it’s something that’s going to exist and will likely become more mainstream.

16. **AI and computing power will help us find a cure for a lot of diseases:** This is something that’s already happening, and I think we’ll see a lot more of it in the next 5 years. It’s crazy to think about how much AI and technology are going to help us extend our lifespan.

17. **We’ll see AI-powered buildings:** This is something that’s already being worked on, with architects designing buildings that are completely powered by AI. I think we’ll see more and more of these buildings popping up in cities with the sheer amount of construction that’s happening.

18. **Glow in the dark cities:** Imagine walking through a city at night, and the streets being lit up by plants and trees that glow. This is already being done in certain cities, and I think we’ll see more of it in the next 5 years.

19. **Flying cars:** I think we’re going to see flying cars become a lot more mainstream, especially with the introduction of hyperloops. Watching sci-fi movies as a kid, I always wondered when we’d have the chance to zoom around in flying cars. That childhood dream is finally going to become a reality!

20. **AI-powered robots will become more humanoid:** We’re already seeing this in robots like Sophia, and I think there’s going to be a lot more robots that look like humans.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! What do you think the world will look like in 5 years?
