Why do any of us give a shit about the US election?

I'm not even in the US, I'm in Canada and this shit is affecting me. Why did any of us put so much energy into this? Because I hate trump and his base more than anything, but why did we put so much energy into something we can't even control? The election will most likely be rigged, the USA's democracy is a joke, and even if Biden wins he won't even do anything about their issues. I've been thinking this for a while, why do any of us care so much about this? Its all just theatre.
