The new "manosphere" is disturbing.

As a child of the early internet, I'm used to male supremacist movements being loud and online.

As a teenager I saw the rise and fall of theconversion of PUAs from what they originally were supposed to be (helping socially awkward guys get dates) to what they actually turned into (a means to dehumanize men and women and to try and manipulate women into having sex with you) to the eventual fallout from the too many texts and too many videos of these "PUAs" getting beatdowns by the women they tried to manipulate or abuse.

Then I saw the rise of the incels and heard about the shootings and the fallout from that movement as well, with many of the more vocal and abusive members of that space getting their asses kicked online and irl.

I'm familiar with all of the other anti-woman spaces online, and have seen those fall apart too over time, or get set back by their own toxicity and inability to show a bare minimum of human decency.

However, I've been seeing a lot of content popping up from "the new manosphere" that is heavily inspired by mainstream startup/tech bro culture.

They have started to co-opt certain words and phrases that were previously used by the women's lib movement, like "female supremacy" and "patriarchy" and "trauma bonding" in ways that are very literal and very sinister.

There's an entire massive network of men who are now openly talking about how yes, we DO live in a patriarchy, and that it's... good? and that men/ masculinity is oppressed, but only because women are too stupid to handle being treated as our equals, and they need to be guided, even if that means they have to be hurt/abused/coerced.

They're also talking about the best ways to traumatize women, and then use that trauma to make women more devoted to them, which is fucking terrifying.

They're all very much into the idea that making money and becoming financially successful is key, and they seem to all have the same "mia culpa" attitude as the PUAs did, where they start out acting like they're trying to help men become better, and then it turns out that they're actually just trying to manipulate people and make money off of unsuspecting men... but this time, there's also a heavy emphasis on manipulating women too.

I've also noticed they seem to have a lot of overlap with the "Christian nation"/anti-LGBTQ+ movements in the US, which... makes sense. a lot of the stuff these guys are saying is eerily reminiscent of the shitconversion therapy centers say about how they can "change" gay people.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this stuff cropping up, but it's the first time in my life I've EVER seen these kinds of attitudes being condoned by mainstream society.

I'm terrified for my daughter's future, honestly.

Has anyone else seen this stuff? Am I just being paranoid?

**EDIT: I am not a man. I am a woman. I was confused about the content here, but that's no excuse... I am sorry for any confusion I have caused or the time I've wasted, and I am removing this post. I made this post in good faith, but I clearly did not do my due diligence, and I should have known better than to speak over/for survivors without listening more. I am going to take this as an opportunity to learn and listen more.**
