25M here. When I was born, my parents sacrificed a lot to send me to a great school. They said no to a lot of things, like vacations and dining out, so that they could afford my tuition.

When it came time to apply for college, they told me they couldn't afford to send me, and that they had spent everything on my primary school education. They made too little to qualify for financial aid, and I didn't get any scholarships, so I went to a trade school instead. I'm doing fine.

For a few years now, my parents have been telling me that they made a huge mistake by not saving for retirement. They said that they sacrificed their future for my education, and now they're going to have to rely on me for support.

I told them that wasn't fair. I wanted to save for retirement too, and I had a life to live before that. I wasn't going to support them.

One month ago, my childhood home was foreclosed. They didn't pay the mortgage. I didn't ask questions.

My mom has been begging me to let them move in with me. I said no.

She kept pushing and I finally told her my conditions: They have to give me $2,000/month, or 2/3 of their Social Security check, whichever is lower. I also said that they would have to do all the housework and all the cooking, and that they would have no opinion when it comes to décor or anything like that. I also said that I would expect them to do chores for me, like my ironing or my gardening.

She freaked out. Somehow both my parents ended up at my door, screaming at me and calling me an asshole. They said I was making them homeless.

AITA?
