CMV: The USA should be exploring sterilization as a method to help solve the homeless issue

Hey guys, this is a tough topic so I want to preface by saying that I am not suggesting mandatory sterilization or coercing people into getting sterilized, but rather giving the option to individuals who would otherwise continue to have kids that would not receive the proper care that a child deserves. As well as providing education and accessible birth control to help prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Firstly, no one should be having kids that they cannot afford to take care of. Unfortunately, this is the case for many people, and the children are the ones who suffer for it. While I believe there are a lot of good people who are also homeless, I believe there is a large chunk of the homeless population who have severe issues with drugs, alcohol, or their mental health, and thus are not in a good spot to be raising children. These people will likely continue to have children they cannot afford as there is no reason for them not to. We should be providing an option for these people to not have to worry about getting pregnant or getting someone pregnant, and that is sterilization. Not only would this help prevent kids from being born into shitty situations, but it would also help prevent overpopulation, which is a large contributor to homelessness. By giving people this option, we can help keep kids out of horrible situations, and help reduce the amount of people who will be homeless in the future.

Another major contribution to homelessness is the lack of access to birth control and a lack of sexual education, which leads to unwanted pregnancies that people cannot afford. This, in turn, can lead to someone becoming homeless, and the cycle repeats. If we were to make birth control more accessible and easily affordable, and have more comprehensive sexual education in schools, we can prevent many unwanted pregnancies. I am not saying that people with these methods available to them will not make mistakes, but I think that the amount of unwanted pregnancies would be greatly reduced. This would again help prevent kids from being born into horrible situations and prevent the amount of people who become homeless from growing.

I know this is a pretty controversial topic, but I really think it would make a huge difference. Thanks for reading guys.

Edit: There are a lot of people in this thread saying things like, "What if they want to have kids later in life?" or "What if they get a better job?" It is not people who get themselves into these types of situations that are able to just get a better job and turn their lives around. More often than not it is a bad situation after a bad situation for these people, and at no point is it a good idea for them to be having kids.
