My son's camera monitor alerted in the middle of the night. I checked it and saw my wife and son sitting on the bed. They weren't my wife and son.

I'm a nurse and I currently work nights. It's bad because I'm always tired and I feel like I'm missing out on my son growing up. My wife usually lies in bed and watches the camera monitor when she's trying to fall asleep, and she's always complaining that it creeps her out and she feels like somebody's watching her so I guess this is karma on her.

As the title says my monitor went off at 3am when I was at work. I was in a daze and I thought my son had cried so I reached over to hit the buttons to make it stop and I saw them. There were two people sitting on the bed where my wife should have been with my son. Whoever it was wasn't my wife because the woman had a short bob of bright red hair, while my wife's hair goes halfway down her back and is black. The man had a short buzz cut and they just sat there staring up at the camera.

The alarm stopped and the monitor went black before I got a good look at their faces, but I'm sure they weren't my wife and son. It felt like I was looking at them forever though with how vivid the details are in my memory. Like, I remember the woman was wearing grey t-shirt and the man was wearing a white one. And from my son's posture I could tell he was upset about something.

I hit the two buttons on the monitor to make it play again right away. The alarm sounded again but this time the screen came on and it was my wife and son lying in bed. My wife looked down at the camera and gave a soft smile and a wave and my son started wailing so I figured he had originally been upset about being put down to sleep but then he saw the camera turn on and thought it was me.

I called my wife and despite the time and how upset my son was she was a little confused but calm about it. She said she hadn't left my son's room at all since she put him down. She remembered looking down at the camera so she figured she must have fallen asleep before she could tell me the monitor had turned on and she didn't think anything of it. She didn't bring up the fact that I had told her I saw two strangers in the room with her and my son because she knew I was tired and figured I was just dreaming or seeing things.

I still couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. Even as I write this I'm 100% sure that what I saw was real. It wasn't a dream. The stranger's faces were blurred and smudged looking but from their body language and the way they were sitting, it looked like they were trying to calm down a hysterical child. When I got those thoughts I called my wife again.

"You remember *not* looking at the camera at all before you turned it on right?" I asked her.

"No, I told you I had looked down and smiled at it," she said.

"Right, right, sorry, I forgot," I said. "But you didn't see anybody else in the room before that?"

"How many times are you going to ask me that?" she laughed. "No, I didn't see anybody else in the room."

"I know, last question. But are you *absolutely sure* you didn't bring my son back into the room at all?"

"Oh my god, yes," she said. "I didn't even leave the room."

I thanked her and hung up. She texted me when she thought I wasn't looking at my phone.

*I swear, there was nobody here. But I think you need a weekend off work.*
