Does anyone else feel uncomfortable when a child says " I'm starving"?

I've been hearing a lot of kids talk about how they are starving after only a couple hours without food. I'm sure a lot of kids don't even know the definition of the word let alone what the feeling is like. It just sort of bothers me that they throw that word around so easily when there are people who actually starve to death.
