My (35M) wife (34F) keeps tying my running shoes after I tell her to keep her hands off them. I tried to teach her a lesson and really hurt her feelings.

I’ve been running a lot lately to get my back straight. I was in a terrible car crash back in 2011 and my back will never be completely straight but the running helps me keep my posture up and loosens up my muscle.

I buy really expensive shoes to run in but my wife seems to think it’s stupid to spend that much. She buys pretty cheap shoes but she doesn’t run as much as I do so I guess it’s fine. But whenever she sees my shoes laid out she ties them together and showcases them like they’re some kind of trophy and it pisses me off. I had multiple talks with her about this and she just laughs it off. I think it’s disrespectful and I don’t like her messing with my stuff.

Some of you might see this as a foolish move but I wanted her to know how it feels to have her stuff messed with. I went into her room and tied all her shoes together and laid them out and made a sneering smile on my face and said “This is how it feels! Now leave my stuff alone.”

To my surprise she started crying and scolding me. She said I was being immature and childish. I still think what I did was right and she was asking for it but I want to know if I went too far.

EDIT: You people are insane. I just had a talk with my wife and I showed her this post and she604 agree that you’re all ridiculous. Tying her shoes together really did teach her a lesson and she’s no longer going to mess with my stuff. This is proof that sometimes the best way to teach someone a lesson is to fight fire with fire.
