CMV: Tooting an instrument in a store that sells that instrument, but you didn't buy it from them, is rude

Let me set up a hypothetical, because I need you to see my point. David gets accepted to Harvard. It is very expensive, so he goes to the bank. He talks with a banker, and he and the banker both decide that the bank is right for him, but it is still expensive. After he leaves the bank, he goes to a private student loan firm, and they give him a better deal. David is happy now. The next time he is in town he walks through the bank drive, gets out of his car, and does a little jig in front of the doors, waving at everyone inside and saying "Look what I got! This is what a smart man looks like". He hops back in his car and drives off.

How would you feel if you were inside that bank, and this happened? What did you ever do to this man? It appears that he singled you out in particular, and is trying to humiliate everyone in the bank. This is quite honestly a very rare event.

How rare do you think the reverse event is? Have you ever been a retail worker who focuses on musical instruments when someone walks in off the street, clearly well advanced, who doesn't talk to you or anyone there, ignores you entirely, picks up an instrument, plays it for a bit, then puts it back down and walks out. It happened regularly at the store I worked at, and everyone hated it. It is like they think they singled out the store. They would follow an employee around to all the instruments they played, and play them right next to whoever was helping other customers. It is like they purposefully go to any instrument store that they know about, just to play their instrument in front of people who they know would appreciate it but are "too stupid" to be worthy of a performance. You would be surprised how often this happens.

I understand that this is probably not what is going through these people's heads. My wife, who is a very sweet and intelligent woman, does this, which is what made me think about it.

We will be driving through town, and she'll say "Oh, there's a guitar store", and she'll immediately pull over and walk in, without saying anything to me about it, then she'll play for a bit and walk out. I've asked her if she could please tell me before she does that, because she knows it bothers me when she purposefully embarrasses and humilitates innocent strangers, but she still does it.
