For the celebration of my boyfriend's birthday, do I (girl) have to pay for him even when he is already making more than me?

I've been seeing a guy for months and it's his birthday, we decided to go to a very nice restaurant. I know since I am a girl, I should pay for him and stuff but he makes way more money than me and I am currently texting my parents for some money in case I run out since I will be needing money to survive as well. I don't want him to feel weird but I can't help my celebration since I just started working.
