Why are people consentingly taking a job they can’t afford to live on and expecting handouts? WHY would you take a job you can’t afford?! This makes zero sense to me.

I see this on here a lot. I’m a 28F 5th grade teacher and I live comfortably. I have a nice car, pretty big house, I travel where I want every summer (Europe this summer) and don’t live paycheck to paycheck. I’m not wealthy, but I’m very comfortable.

Why are so many people taking a job they can’t afford to live on and then complaining about it? Why would you intentionally take a job that doesn’t pay you enough to live?! It makes no sense to me, at all.

Do doctors take their job knowing they won’t be able to afford to live? Nope. Do lawyers take their job knowing they can’t afford their student loans? Nope. Do pastors take a job knowing they can’t afford their families? Nope.

Stop taking low paying jobs and expecting sympathy and handouts. I don’t get it.
