The Japanese company has just unveiled its latest display for the smartwatch, the MN8071. While the Apple Watch Ultra uses the MN8061, this new display will be used in the current generation models. The MN8071 display offers the same resolution as the MN8061, 340 pixels per inch, and delivers the same brightness of 2,000 nits, but it manages to do this while using significantly less power.

Compared to a standard display for a watch, the new MN8071 display is 56% more efficient. Compared to the MN8061 used in the high-end Watch Ultra, it offers a 24% reduction in power usage. What this means is that the battery life will now last longer. For example, Sharp states that if the display can last for 10 seconds on just 1% battery life, the MN8071 will last for 6, or nearly six days.
