YouTube (and the Internet as a whole) was much better when people were creating content as a hobby instead of a "job"

Back in the day you would go to YouTube and watch videos of people playing games, carving wood, and doing all sorts of other things. These people had real jobs and were putting out content because they enjoyed what they were doing and it was fun. Even if they weren't Quiting their Jobs (TM) they were not depending on their content to pay their bills. Now it seems every Tom Dick and Harry is trying to create the next big thing and get a million subscribers and views. Now it seems like everywhere you turn there is another shit podcast or "youtube personality" leeching off your eyeballs for a buck.

The internet was better when people were creating, not for profit, but just because they enjoyed it. Now it is just one massive multi-platform Royal Rumble of people competing for a buck, my attention, and my money.
