Why is America in such a hurry?

There is an old joke where an American asks a European what he did in the 17th century, and the European says I was decorating the palace at Versailles, the American asks another European what he did in the 17th century and he says I was in a war against him because the protestant Dutch were against the protestant British, the American asks another what he did in the 17th century and he says I was invading Poland, the American does this over and over and over again, until he gets to an Asian and asks him what he did in the 17th century and he says I was building the palace at Peking. <br><br>Then the American asks the European why he is poor in comparison to the American, and he says because I was busy decorating the palace at Versailles. Then the American asks the next European why he is poor in comparison to the American, and he says because I was at war with the British. Then this continues and continues until the American gets to the Asian, and he asks him why he is poor in comparison to the American and he says because I was building the palace at Peking. <br><br>I bring this up because I think it is why America is so wealthy and other countries are poor.
