My cousin is a serial killer.

My name is Rebecca. I am 14. I have a cousin, JJ, who is 17. He lives in the basement of my family's home. My cousin is a serial killer. <br><br>JJ is a regular person, I guess, other than the fact that he's a serial killer. He's not a monster, he's not evil, he isn't from another planet or any of that stuff. He is just a person who kills people. <br><br>If you want to call anyone in my family a monster it's my aunt. She is the type of girl who thinks it's ok to lock up her son for life, just because of how he was born. JJ was born with a few disabilities. He's not like other people, he doesn't know right from wrong, and he has a hard time functioning on his own. He has a hard time controlling himself, and he has a hard time talking to people, and he doesn't know how to read or write or anything like that. He has to rely on us for everything. <br><br>JJ also has a hard time controlling his temper. He has a hard time controlling what he does, once he gets angry. And that is where the problem starts. <br><br>See, JJ doesn't always mean to do what he does. He can't help himself. He gets angry, and he does stuff, and he kills people, and then he gets upset and he cries. He doesn't mean to, and he wishes that he could stop, but he just can't. <br><br>My aunt decided to lock him up. Not because of me and my family, because we know that he will never be able to function properly in society, but because of her. She was ashamed of him, and she didn't want people to know about him. Our family told her that she had two options, give him to us, or have him institutionalized. <br><br>She decided to give him to us. But she made it seem like we were the ones who were locking him up, not her. She told people that we took JJ in, and locked him in our basement to keep people safe, when really it was the other way around. <br><br>And plus, JJ isn't dangerous. <br><br>I know that by now you must be thinking, 'But the serial killing thing?' <br><br>JJ isn't a bad person. He doesn't want to kill people, but he is so smart. He is extremely smart, and he is capable of doing so many things, but he can't help himself. When he gets angry, he kills people. He kills people, and he eats them. And that's that. <br><br>I know it's wrong, I'm not trying to make excuses for him, or say that he is some kind of victim. I'm just saying that he isn't a bad person. <br><br>Like remember that one story from a few weeks ago? The one were a lady went out with this guy, and then she never came home? <br><br>JJ did that. He asked her out, and she said ok, and then she was never seen again. <br><br>JJ did that. <br><br>And remember that story about the kids who went camping, but they never came home? JJ did that. <br><br>He's real smart. He knows how to do things, he knows what to say and do to get out of situations, he knows how to make himself look normal, and he knows how to talk to people, he knows how to make people like him. He talks like a normal person, and he acts like a normal person, he looks like a completely normal guy, so he can do things, and he usually gets out of it. <br><br>Plus, JJ is smart. Like I said. He knows how to be safe when he does things. And he's extremely good at lying. He lies a lot, and he's really good at it. <br><br>And, he can't help it. He doesn't want to hurt people, he just can't stop himself. And he's been doing it for years, so he knows exactly what to do. <br><br>JJ doesn't do it that often. He only does it when he gets angry. And he doesn't get angry often, so it can be awhile between each time. Sometimes, he only kills one person, and sometimes he kills a lot of people. It depends on how angry he is, and how long it takes him to calm down. <br><br>It's not a big deal. <br><br>JJ isn't a bad guy. And it's not like he could ever be 'cured.' He has to live with this his whole life, and we can't just sit back and blame him for doing things he can't help. We are just taking care of him, and we are taking responsibility for him. <br><br>This is just like any other mental illness. JJ can't help himself, and he can't function properly, so we have to take care of him. And yes, he does things that he can't control, and yes, he does things that are very bad, but JJ is not a bad person. He is my cousin, and I love him. And I know that he doesn't mean to hurt people, and I know that he is capable of thought. <br><br>JJ talks and stuff, he's not a total lost cause. He can communicate, but he usually gets confused. Or he will say random things that don't make any sense. Sometimes, he will say something, and you will realize he is talking about something that happened years ago. <br><br>He also has a hard time remembering things. Like my name, or my brother and sisters names, or what he ate for breakfast. <br><br>And, he has a hard time controlling what he says and does in public. He will do and say random things, things that are inappropriate, and things that are just embarrassing. <br><br>JJ's birthday is next week. My family decided that we should throw him a party, since he hasn't had a party in years. <br><br>JJ's favorite color is red. So we are going to be decorating the house in a bunch of red things, we are going to have red balloons, and a red cake, and red streamers. We are going to play the radio, and we are going to have presents. JJ likes big presents, because he's a big guy, so we are going to give him big presents, and we are going to give him presents that are wrapped in red wrapping paper. <br><br>JJ's favorite food is pork, so we are going to have a pork roast. My mom is going to make it, and I am sure that she will make it very good. JJ will love it, because he loves my mom's cooking. We are also going to have mashed potatoes and gravy, which are JJ's favorite. <br><br>My mom is going to make a really big cake. JJ loves cake, and he loves ice cream. We are going to make both, and we are going to sing 'Happy Birthday.' JJ likes it when we sing, so we are going to sing a lot. JJ loves my brother and sisters and I, and he loves my mom, and he loves my dad and my grandfather and my pop. JJ is a very lucky person. <br><br>JJ's birthday is going to be so much fun. He's going to be so happy.
