My friend and I have been friends since childhood and we liked to play a game of "Would you rather" together. You know, the one where someone tells you two outcomes and you have to choose which one you prefer, but you can't refuse to answer.

For example, "Would you rather be rich or be able to travel the world?" Every time, my friend had an answer ready and was always excited to find out what our next question would be.

One day, he came to visit me at home. He looked different, his eyes were dark and he was dressed in black. He told me that he had found a mysterious book in an abandoned library and he wanted to show me some of the questions from the book. I was skeptical, but I trusted him, so I agreed.

As we flipped through the pages, we noticed that the questions were getting darker and darker. For example, "Would you rather lose a limb or lose your ability to speak?" or "Would you rather have no memory or no emotions?" We decided to play along and find out what other questions the book had in store for us.

But as we continued, the questions became even more sinister. "Would you rather be burned at the stake or be tortured?" "Would you rather be beheaded or buried alive?" My friend and I were both terrified, but we didn't dare to stop.

Suddenly, the questions stopped and a message appeared on the last page of the book, "You should not have played this game." My friend and I were shocked and realized that we had made a terrible mistake.

The next day, my friend didn't show up at our meeting place as usual. I went to his house to look for him, but he wasn't there. His family told me that he had been missing for days and that they were very worried. I was terrified and knew that I had to tell them about the mysterious book, but I was too afraid.

Days turned into weeks and my friend was still missing. I was consumed by guilt and couldn't sleep at night, thinking about what might have happened to him.

One night, I received a call from an unknown number. It was my friend. He told me that he was being held captive by some kind of cult and that they were going to kill him. I begged him to tell me where he was, but the line went dead.

I called the police and told them everything, but they said that they couldn't do anything without knowing his location. I was desperate and decided to go out and look for him.

I searched the whole city, but there was no sign of him. As the night wore on, I became more and more desperate. Suddenly, I received another call from my friend.

"Where are you?" I asked.

"I'm in an abandoned library," he replied, his voice weak.

"I'm coming," I said and hung up the phone.

I ran towards the library as fast as I could. When I arrived, I saw my friend lying on the floor, his eyes black as coal.

"You should not have played this game," he whispered before he died.

His funeral was last week. I'm afraid that I will never find out what really happened to him, but I'm determined to find out who or what took his life.
