I(39 F) am upset that my husband (50M) spent all of his inheritance on things he didn’t need instead of saving it for our children.

I just turned 39, and my husband is 50. I’m Mexican, and when you get married, you’re pretty much tying two families together. We both have children from a previous relationship and together.

My father in law passed away in January 2024. My husband’s mother passed away in January 2023, so they passed almost a year apart.

The family made the decision to split his father’s inheritance between my husband and his siblings. My husband was given a large sum of money.he was given $105,000. He’s paid off all of his bills, and is now spending money on things that he doesn’t need. My husband is a carpenter, so he loves anything to do with woodworking. He now has a room in our house dedicated to a dolls house with all of these details. It’s so pretty, but it’s so unneccessary.

I don’t want my husband to have all this money spent before our children are adults and need it for College or something like that.

I’m upset, but I don’t want to fight with him.

Edit: I should have mentioned that he spent about $70,000 on paying off bills, a car and a few other things around the house, so he didn’t spend the whole inheritance on random stuff.

Sorry if this is confusing.

TL;DR: my husband was given a large inheritance, and he’s spending it on things that aren’t necessary instead of saving it for our children.
